Our family enrichment programs are a cornerstone of our mission. They nurture healthy and resilient Black families while fostering a deep sense of unity and support within our communities. We envision a thriving future where every family has the tools and resources to thrive.
Harambee is the Swahili word for "Let's All Pull Together." Our Harambee program serves Galveston’s youngest citizens by addressing the racial disparities our community’s Black families with children ages 0 to 3 experience. Our community leaders “pull together” to help parents and promote early childhood brain development. We help connect families to local, culturally appropriate, no-cost resources and provide education through group-based, multi-session programs. We help parents become better prepared to give their Black infants and toddlers the best chance at a healthy life.
The project is a collaborative effort among Galveston’s community leaders, family support provider organizations, and families in Galveston with children ages 0 to 3.
Nia provides ongoing family support to Galveston’s parents through various skill-building workshops and empowering events that ensure they have the tools and knowledge to create stronger, more connected family units.
Nia appreciates the support we receive from the Galveston community, and we proudly offer reciprocal engagement as members or collaborative partners with other local community, arts, and cultural organizations.
